Classical 1 and Chris Country join the FDN
Norwich DAB multiplex

Two new radio stations will be joining the airwaves of Norwich on Friday (the 05th of August). The addition of these two services considerably broadens the range of output carried across the FDN DAB multiplex. Classical and country music are two music genres not previously carried by our network.

The BEAT Joins FDN Norwich DAB multiplex

20th July 2017
The BEAT, operated by the same team that provides the popular MKFM service for the Milton Keynes area, launches on the FDN DAB multiplex for the Greater Norwich area this Saturday the 22nd July 2017.Playing “all the hits”, the station will be including bespoke local news, travel, weather and What’s On information for the area from later in the year.

Weather24/7 Joins FDN Norwich DAB multiplex

Future Digital Norfolk Limited (FDN) welcomes the arrival of Weather24/7 to it’s DAB multiplex for the Greater Norwich Area. This service provides a rolling weather forecast service for Norwich, based on data provided under licence from the Met Office. The service provides brief details of current and forthcoming weather conditions for the area, including temperature and likelihood of rain.

Future Digital Norfolk Celebrates First Year
Of Digital Audio Broadcasting To The
Greater Norwich Area

30th September 2016 –
Future Digital Norfolk Limited (FDN) has just completed its first year of broadcasting providing digital radio services to the Greater Norwich area. After a successful launch in September 2015, FDN has gradually added additional broadcasters to its roster, with more expected over the coming months.

In addition to new services, we have also received permission to improve our coverage of the City of Norwich and the surrounding areas by increasing transmitter power and adding additional transmission facilities to further strengthen our signal.

Radio Caroline Joins FDN Norwich DAB multiplex

15th November 2015
Pioneer music radio station Radio Caroline is the latest service to join the airwaves of Norwich as part of the Future Digital Norfolk Limited DAB Digital Radio Multiplex.

‘Radio Caroline’, which began broadcasting in 1964 from a ship anchored off the Essex Coast, was a popular AM station across East Anglia right through until 1990 when it was finally taken off air by the authorities. Since then, the station has been broadcasting via satellite from land-based studios, with occasional special transmissions from its former home, the radio ship M.V. Ross Revenge.

The website includes details of all the DAB services carried on the new Small Scale DAB multiplex for the Greater Norwich area as well as various background technical information about the Ofcom Small Scale DAB experiment.

Two New Services, Jazz FM & Solar Radio
on DAB for Norwich This Week.

12th October 2015

Future Digital Norfolk is pleased to welcome Solar Radio and Jazz FM to the Norwich Airwaves. Both stations join our DAB multiplex for the Greater Norwich area this week.

Details of Solar Radio can be found at www.solarradio.com and more information about Jazz FM is available at www.jazzfm.com  These two stations bring the total number of services on the FDN Greater Norwich DAB multiplex to seven.

Future Digital Norfolk Launches
New DAB Services for Norwich

Next week (on Monday the 14th of September) Future Digital Norfolk Limited brings local Community Radio service, ‘Future Radio’ and local Commercial Radio station, ‘Radio Norwich’ to the airwaves of Norwich on a new DAB multiplex for the Greater Norwich area.

Ofcom Awards New DAB Licence for Norwich

12th June 2015
On the 24th of February 2015, Ofcom invited applications from groups interested in operating experimental small-scale DAB mulitplexes.  The application round closed on April the 7th and by that date Ofcom had received no fewer than 51 separate applications from a diverse range of groups around the country,

Future Digital Norfolk Limited (FDN) was one of the groups that submitted a licence application in early April.  On Friday the 12th of June, Ofcom published its small-scale DAB licensing decisions, confirming that FDN, with its plans to broadcast to the Greater Norwich area, was one of just ten successful applicants to be permitted to take part in the trials.

With the licensing process now completed, FDN is working to put the required technical and programming infrastructure in place in order to begin broadcasting later in the year.
